Rehabilitation of Muslim Community in post-independent India

The country obtained independence but the partition brought havoc for the Muslims of India in the form of death and destruction. Those who claimed to be their leaders left them abruptly in the lurch but Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind stood like a rock for protection of Muslims. On one hand, it made all-out efforts to end carnage with the help of government and Mahatma Gandhi, and on the other hand, it encouraged Muslims to face the ordeal with the spirit of Islam. During that time, Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind was successful in bringing back confidence in Muslims. Due to this, the majority of Muslims chose Indian as their nation over newly born Pakistan.
When the situation in independent India became slightly stabilised, Jamiat which had announced abdication of active politics, focused on aspects like the protection of Islamic faith, identity and heritage, securing and safeguarding the rights of Muslims, humanitarian activities, promoting social reforms among Muslims, etc.
